The Afghanistan Institute of Nutrition and Home Economics (AINHE) is a national organization which was established to respond to the country’s need for human and institutional capacity in nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive sectors, and to support the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan’s (GoIRA) efforts to prioritize nutrition interventions in its development strategies to achieve the country’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). AINHE’s team of professionals consist of some of the most highly qualified and renowned national and international experts of Agriculture, Nutrition and Health, who have worked extensively in leading roles to help influence nutrition focused community development in Afghanistan and abroad. AINHE’s Vision: AINHE’s vision is to achieve optimal nutrition status for the Afghan people particularly emphasizing on the most vulnerable population segments such as children under five years of age, women of reproductive age and elderly people. AINHE’s Mission: AINHE’s mission is to create a skilled workforce for Afghanistan both within and outside the institute that is capable to guide policy and programming needed to better understand, analyze, plan and implement interventions to address hunger and malnutrition in the country. To achieve its vision, AINHE focuses on supporting the GoIRA’s efforts in the following strategic areas: · Human and Institutional Capacity Building; · Social and Behavior Change Communication; · Evidence-based Research for Policy Change; · Multi-sectoral Approaches to End Malnutrition; · Gender Mainstreaming to Improve Nutrition Outcomes; and · Advocacy for Nutrition Interventions.
