AIOH

The Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists (AIOH) is the peak organisation representing professionals in occupational hygiene. It works to promote healthy workplaces and protect Australian workers by advancing the knowledge and practice of occupational health and hygiene. Membership is open to practising occupational hygienists and others interested in worker health and safer work environments. The institute supports professional development through courses, mentoring, webinars, masterclasses, chapter meetings, special interest groups and career resources. It also provides publications, research papers, tools, videos, a jobs board and a consultant directory.

AIOH’s initiatives address workplace exposure and respiratory protection. Breathe Freely Australia promotes awareness and safe practices to help prevent dust-related occupational lung diseases, including silicosis. RESP-FIT provides training and accreditation for respirator fit testing, helping support the proper fit and use of respiratory protective equipment. The AIOH Foundation promotes occupational hygiene principles in preventing and controlling workplace disease. Through events, awards, media and engagement with government and industry, AIOH works to strengthen the profession and encourage effective protection from hazardous workplace agents.
