AIPD Grosseto is the Grosseto section of the Italian Down Syndrome Association, founded in 2004 by parents of people with Down syndrome and now welcoming families from across the province. The association works to uphold the rights of people with disabilities, with a focus on equal opportunities and non-discrimination, in line with the principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Its mission is to help each person with Down syndrome pursue an individual life plan, make choices, develop autonomy and build on their abilities.
AIPD Grosseto offers psychological support and a welcoming point of contact for families, guidance on regulations concerning school support, and group activities for pre-adolescents and adults focused on independence and everyday life skills. It also provides employment guidance to support a more independent life and greater inclusion in the workplace. These services are delivered with the help of professionals, trained operators and volunteers.
The association also invites supporters to contribute through donations and Italy’s five-per-thousand tax donation scheme
