About African Initiatives for Relief & Development
AIRD (African Initiatives for Relief and Development) is a non-political, non-religious, and non-profit African international NGO founded in 2006 in Kampala, Uganda. AIRD was established by a group of individuals with a vision to deliver world-class humanitarian support to those displaced by conflict and other disasters.
AIRD's core focus areas include transportation of refugees and non-food items, logistics, extensive construction and infrastructure development such as shelters, bridges, hospitals, schools, and roads. They also offer services in fuel management, fleet management, warehouse management, workshop management, and Water Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH).
In addition, AIRD collaborates with partners to provide development support and livelihoods assistance to affected communities. The organization is highly regarded and has been prequalified and certified as an Implementation Partner by UNHCR, as well as working with organizations like the World Food Program (WFP), UNICEF, and USAID.
With an average annual budget of $35 million, AIRD has established strategic alliances with governments and sister organizations to effectively utilize grants, donations, and funding for the benefit of Persons of Concern.
AIRD's dedicated team of over 1,600 national and international staff contributes to the organization's success. Their expertise and commitment enable AIRD to deliver protection and durable solutions to People of Concern (PoC) in 12 countries. The staff's motivation and hard work allow them to provide services and respond to emergencies in challenging conditions.
