Airola Road Vineyards is a luxury estate vineyard in California’s Gold Country, near Angels Camp in Calaveras County. Set on a hilltop above New Melones Reservoir, the 61-acre property has been cultivated since 2001, with vines shaped by the Sierra Foothills landscape and the estate’s Mediterranean-like climate. Airola grows seven grape varietals and crafts wines rooted in local soil, including Cabernet and the notably rare Sagrantino.
An ancient Italian grape, Sagrantino is among the rarest wine grapes cultivated in California, with fewer than 25 acres planted across the United States.
