AISA Emilia Romagna is a volunteer-led association supporting people living with ataxia and their families. Based in Granarolo dell’Emilia, near Bologna, it works to improve quality of life, raise awareness of ataxia, encourage scientific research, and promote access to clear, reliable diagnoses. Its approach recognizes that the condition affects the whole family and should not be faced alone.
Through its center and collaborations with healthcare professionals, the association helps patients begin personalized care and rehabilitation pathways. Services include neuromotor rehabilitation to support coordination, balance, and independence; speech and language therapy to assist communication and swallowing; psychological support for patients and family members; cognitive rehabilitation and mindfulness; and an SOS listening service.
AISA Emilia Romagna also organizes events and community activities, shares news and information, and invites people to get involved through donations, volunteering, and membership. Its work is supported by volunteers and donors, with the aim of listening to individual needs, offering practical and emotional support, and fostering greater understanding of ataxia.
