L'Associazione Italiana Traduttori e Interpreti (AITI) è un'associazione senza scopo di lucro di traduttori e interpreti professionisti. È la prima associazione italiana del settore non solo per l'anno di fondazione (1950), ma anche per il numero di iscritti (1130 soci all'8 luglio 2017). L'Associazione raggruppa traduttori editoriali, traduttori tecnico-scientifici, interpreti e interpreti di conferenza. L'ammissione avviene sulla base della documentazione dei titoli e dell'esperienza professionale, inoltre i soci ordinari devono sostenere una prova di idoneità che simula un reale contesto lavorativo. L'AITI è membro fondatore della Fédération Internationale des Traducteurs (FIT), organismo non governativo formato da oltre cento Associazioni nazionali di traduttori, interpreti e terminologi, che complessivamente rappresenta più di 80.000 traduttori in 55 Paesi del mondo. L'AITI svolge la propria attività a livello internazionale, nazionale e regionale. A livello internazionale, l'AITI partecipa ai Congressi FIT e alle attività promosse da FIT-Europe, collabora con autorità sovranazionali. Fa inoltre parte del CEATL Conseil Européen des Associations de Traducteurs Littéraires), di PETRA (Plateforme Européenne pour la Traduction Littéraire) e di EULITA (European Legal Interpreters and Translators Association). A livello nazionale, l'AITI è organizzata in Sezioni Regionali coordinate da una Presidenza Nazionale. Questa intrattiene rapporti con organismi nazionali (Ministeri, Commissioni, altre Associazioni di categoria, Commissione per la stesura degli studi di settore ecc.) ed esteri. L'AITI è membro di Confassociazioni (Confederazione Associazioni Professionali), dell'UNI (Ente Nazionale Italiano di Unificazione), della Commissione del MIUR per il riconoscimento dei titoli di studio in mediazione linguistica e della Commissione del MIBACT per l'assegnazione dei Premi nazionali per la traduzione.

About AITI
AITI (Associazione Italiana Traduttori e Interpreti) is a non-profit organization that represents professional translators and interpreters in Italy. Established in 1950, AITI is not only the oldest association in the field but also boasts the highest number of members, with 1219 registered as of April 15, 2023. AITI brings together technical-scientific translators, editorial translators, legal-judicial translators, localizers, conference interpreters, and interpreters in the commercial, legal-judicial, and socio-sanitary domains.

AITI is also a member of the Conseil Européen des Associations de Traducteurs Littéraires (CEATL), which comprises 36 national associations of literary translators from 28 European countries, totaling around 11,000 authors.
