Akakura Onsen Ski Resort is a winter destination in Mogami Town, Yamagata, Japan, where powder snow and traditional hot-spring culture come together. Its eight courses cater to a range of abilities, from groomed beginner-friendly slopes and a children’s snow-play area to advanced, ungroomed and tree-run routes. Cross-country skiing is also available, and summit views include the Kamuro mountain range and, on clear days, Mount Gassan.

Visitors can choose from single-ride, half-day, four-hour, daily and season lift tickets, plus bundled offers that combine a lift pass, meal and day-use hot-spring entry. Rental services provide skis, snowboards, clothing, helmets and accessories, including complete sets for beginners. Ski and snowboard lessons are offered through several schools, with instructors who can assist in English and Chinese.

After a day on the slopes, guests can relax in the nearby Akakura Onsen district, known for its hot-spring inns, pensions and guesthouses, regional Yamagata cuisine and seasonal winter events. On-site facilities include restaurants and cafés, a first-aid room, lockers, restrooms and free parking.
