Akatemia

Työväen Akatemia is a Finnish folk college based in Kauniainen, near Helsinki. Founded in 1924, it has a long-standing focus on helping students prepare for further education and offers a supportive, full-time route to university studies. Students can complete open university courses or first-year university studies and may apply to universities through the open-study route or entrance examinations.

Its broad study offering includes humanities, social and political sciences, law, business, education, psychology, languages and culture, writing, medicine, and pharmacy. Teaching is primarily in person and guided, with a learning community designed to help students progress. Eligible students can receive Finnish second-level student financial aid, and campus accommodation is available in two residences.

International perspectives are part of the study year, including study trips and visits. Beyond education, Työväen Akatemia provides facilities for meetings, seminars, and celebrations at Villa Pelander. Its campus combines study spaces, accommodation, and a park-like setting, creating an environment for learning and community life.
