Aketekete is a new emerging brand that specializes in designing and creating high-quality, handcrafted pieces in Ghana. We collaborate with local artisans to produce modern pieces such as bolga baskets and Ghanaian beads jewelry using traditional techniques. At Aketekete, we place a strong emphasis on ethical and fair processes, valuing the connection with creatives and ensuring that the artisan is always the main focus of our work.

Our collection is a celebration of culture, nature, and the stories that would otherwise be forgotten. We believe in preserving age-old techniques by supporting artisan communities and creating objects that allow you to experience the beauty and uniqueness of a place and its people. Aketekete was founded in 2020 by Maria Bernat Astorga, who partnered with Ghanaian artisans to promote transparency, value, and craft.

This includes creating fair jobs for artisans, promoting traditional crafting techniques, following sustainable practices, and providing transparency in our production costs.
