AKIRS

Associação de Karate-do IPPON do Rio Grande do Sul (AKIRS) is a martial arts association and dojo based in Teutônia, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. It offers training in traditional Karate-do Shotokan, emphasizing respect, discipline, effective technique, and personal and mental development alongside physical skill. The association describes its goal as helping students pursue harmony and maturity, with achievement of a black belt understood as more than technical proficiency.

AKIRS also teaches Kobudo, a related Okinawan martial art focused on traditional weapons, including the bo, kama, sai, nunchaku, and tonfa. Its training draws on established Kobudo traditions, and the dojo has pursued exchanges and further learning with other practitioners and organizations.

Beyond regular instruction, AKIRS participates in tournaments and events, including regional Karate championships, and has hosted technical courses and Dan examinations. Its community activities and articles also explore martial arts history, Japanese culture, training, and related topics. Through these offerings, AKIRS brings together practical instruction, traditional values, continued learning, and engagement with the wider martial arts community.
