Akkia

Akkia is a child welfare services provider serving the Lapland region of Finland. Its work is grounded in caring for others, with perseverance, community, and respect for each person identified as central values. The organization supports children, young people, and families through residential care, family-based care, and community services.

Akkia’s youth homes, Eteläranta 51 and Eteläranta 53, are located in Rovaniemi and provide round-the-clock care for children and young people aged 13–17 who have been taken into care. Perhekoti Akkia offers a home-like family-care setting intended to foster close relationships, basic security, and social development.

Outpatient services are available in Rovaniemi and Meri-Lappi. These include professional support-person services, family work, and aftercare for people needing support. Support workers guide, advise, and encourage clients, while family work provides tools for managing everyday life. Through these services, Akkia aims to provide considerate, practical support tailored to the needs of children, young people, and families across its service areas.
