The Athens Centre for the Study of the Human (AKMA) is a nonprofit scientific institute dedicated to studying, researching and applying knowledge about people and human relationships. Its work connects theory, research and practice through a multilevel, multifocal dialectical-systemic approach. AKMA supports personal development and offers individual, group, family and couples therapy, as well as activities for children, adolescents and families.
Its learning and professional development programmes serve mental health professionals, educators and others in related fields, covering systemic practice, counselling, intervention design, supervision and group facilitation. The centre also provides supervision and interprofessional consultation for organisations and professional settings, and develops experiential learning and team programmes for businesses and institutions. Beyond its direct services, AKMA promotes research, scientific dialogue, publications, events and conferences, and participates in Greek and international networks and collaborations.
Its community initiatives extend systemic practice into educational and local settings. Through these activities, AKMA aims to foster personal and social development, reflective professional practice, and meaningful cooperation among individuals, groups and communities
