Aktiivinen synnytys ry is a nationwide Finnish association working to advance the rights of people giving birth and promote a birth culture centered on the needs of birthing people and families. Run entirely by volunteers, the association supports families by providing information, peer connection, and practical resources related to pregnancy and childbirth. Its website covers active birth, the physiology of childbirth, preparation, and ways to support an active birth, as well as information about doulas and home birth.
The association also offers a home-birth guide for families and professionals, a directory of home-birth midwives, guides and brochures, and information on applying to Kela for reimbursements. Its activities include free, open peer-support discussion evenings in several locations across Finland and webinars on pregnancy and childbirth topics. In addition, it rents TENS devices at locations around the country and by post.
Visitors can learn about upcoming events, membership, the association’s history and positions, and its work with educational institutions
