The Alternative Liste Schaffhausen (AL) is a progressive political movement that has been active for 19 years, originating from the passion of youth seeking radical societal change. Founded primarily by teenagers and young adults, the AL has consistently challenged conventional political ideologies, particularly during periods marked by restrictions on refugee rights and fundamental freedoms. The party has made its mark in various political institutions, including the Cantonal Council and numerous local assemblies, bringing fresh perspectives and advocating for transparency and inclusivity.

Over the years, the AL has earned a reputation for encouraging women's political participation, with a commitment to ensuring diverse representation in leadership roles. Recently, the party has chosen a transformative path by stepping back from formal political structures, allowing space for younger voices eager to drive change. This decision reflects the AL's dedication to remaining true to its original spirit of nonconformity. As it embarks on this new chapter, the AL continues to inspire future generations to engage fervently in the political landscape.
