About @Alarmphone
The Alarm Phone is a vital hotline providing support for people crossing the Mediterranean Sea to the EU. While not a rescue service, the Alarm Phone acts as an alarm number to aid in rescue operations. If in distress at sea or facing a pushback, individuals are encouraged to contact the coast guard and then the Alarm Phone for assistance.
The project was initiated in 2014 to offer boat people an additional lifeline in critical situations. Operating in key regions including the Aegean, Central Mediterranean, and Western Mediterranean Seas, the Alarm Phone focuses on ensuring prompt rescue missions and preventing human rights violations. Comprised of dedicated volunteers, the project aims for open borders and freedom of movement for all, striving to create a Mediterranean space of mutual solidarity.
