Welcome to the Alberta Law Review, a student-run publication dedicated to enhancing discourse on Canadian legal issues. Founded in 1955, the Alberta Law Review (ALR) is published by the Alberta Law Review Society, which consists of law students from the University of Alberta and the University of Calgary. With a rich history and continuous publication since 1955, the ALR is committed to promoting legal research and scholarship while providing a platform for discussing contemporary legal matters.

Published quarterly, each volume of the ALR encompasses approximately 1,000 pages and includes a special issue that explores cutting-edge legal scholarship in a specific area. Previous special issues have covered topics ranging from administrative law to the future of law school. Additionally, the ALR publishes an annual Energy Law Edition that exclusively focuses on energy law.

The remaining issues are generalist publications that cover various areas of the law. The ALR is grateful for the ongoing support and assistance from the Law Society of Alberta, the Faculties of Law at the University of Alberta and the University of Calgary, as well as its patrons and advertisers. With an open access policy, the ALR prioritizes the free availability of research to facilitate global knowledge exchange.
