Alberta Plastics Recycling Association

The Alberta Plastics Recycling Association (APRA) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to advancing plastic circularity and promoting sustainability in Alberta. With over 32 years of experience, APRA facilitates the development of sustainable programs to effectively manage plastic waste. As a resource for individuals, governments, and companies, APRA fosters important relationships and serves as an information conduit for plastics diversion from landfills.

APRA's membership includes a diverse range of stakeholders, such as plastic resin producers, manufacturers, fabricators, converters, wholesalers, and retailers of plastic products, as well as plastics recyclers and other members of the recycling community. The association has played a vital role in establishing various plastics recycling initiatives in Alberta, including programs for used oil containers, milk containers, and expanded polystyrene (EPS). APRA is committed to establishing an agricultural plastics program and increasing the capture of plastics materials that currently lack designated recycling programs.

Through partnerships and programs, APRA strives to advance circularity across the plastics value chain, envisioning a sustainable plastic circular economy where post-use plastic is kept out of the environment and retained within the economy.
