Alder Renewable

Alder Energy develops technology that converts abundant domestic biomass into biocrude oils designed to work with today’s refining infrastructure. Its approach aims to expand the supply of feedstocks for advanced fuels, chemicals, and carbon materials without requiring costly, large-scale refinery conversions. Alder uses resources such as wood residues and energy crops, seeking to provide a scalable, lower-cost alternative as demand for advanced fuels and carbon products grows.

The company’s technology is designed to help existing refineries use their equipment to process Alder Renewable Crude (ARC), potentially reducing the need for new infrastructure while making greater use of refinery capacity. Alder has reported continuous operation of its integrated pilot and barrel-scale ARC production from commercial fast-pyrolysis oils derived from forestry residues. Its work also includes exploring ARC coprocessing in refinery fluid catalytic cracking units and demonstrating a fully biogenic jet-fuel blend using hydrotreated ARC as the majority component. Alder collaborates with industry, government, and academic partners to validate its technology and advance commercialization and scale-up.
