Alecta is a Swedish occupational pension company founded in 1917 as a mutual organisation owned by its customers. It manages pensions for 2.9 million private customers and 37,000 companies, and is the fifth-largest occupational pension company in Europe, with more than SEK 1,400 billion in assets under management. Alecta focuses exclusively on collectively agreed occupational pensions, predominantly in the ITP area, and serves both employers and employees.
Its offerings include retirement pensions, disability pensions and survivor’s protection. For privately employed salaried workers, Alecta provides the ITP 2 defined benefit scheme and the ITP 1 and ITPK defined contribution schemes. Alecta is the default administrator for people who do not choose one, while also offering options for those who make an active selection. Its Alecta Optimal Pension defined contribution plan is available through several other collective agreements, including SAF-LO, PA16, FTP and KAP/KL/AKAP-KR.
The company manages pension assets with the aim of generating strong returns at low cost.
