Aleppo Savon is a fourth-generation Syrian refugee-owned brand that brings the centuries-old art of soap making to Calgary, Canada. With a family legacy spanning over 125 years, soap making runs deep in their blood, as their last name Sabouni literally means soap maker. They specialize in the traditional craft of Aleppo soap making, a technique that uses no chemicals or additives and involves secret family recipes passed down through generations.
Aleppo soap, known for its intensely moisturizing properties, is one of the oldest types of soap in the world and has even influenced the famous Marseille soap of France. However, due to the destruction and abandonment of traditional soap factories in Aleppo, there has been a global shortage of this coveted soap. Abdulfatah Sabouni, the founder, and owner of Aleppo Savon, arrived in Calgary two years ago and quickly established the brand as a thriving business.
