Alex Plank is a filmmaker, autism expert, public speaker, and founder of Wrong Planet, an online community for people with Asperger’s syndrome and autism. Diagnosed with autism at age nine, Plank started the community as a teenager and continues to run, own, and develop the site. His work brings together film, autism advocacy, and community building, informed by both his personal experience and professional background.
Plank graduated from George Mason University with a degree in Film and Video Studies and serves as a commissioner on The Lancet Commission on Autism. He has also consulted with the lead actress and creators of FX’s television series The Bridge and guest-starred on ABC’s The Good Doctor. His documentary, Shameful, examines the mistreatment of autistic people in France.
Plank is available for public speaking at conferences and events, and invites inquiries about speaking appearances and business propositions. Through his media work, consulting, and development of Wrong Planet, he shares expertise and creates opportunities to engage with issues affecting autistic people
