The Alexandria Turkey Trot is the premier Thanksgiving Day race in the DC area, celebrating its 49th year in 2024. This iconic event invites participants of all abilities to enjoy a scenic 5-mile course through the charming streets of Del Ray, creating a family-friendly atmosphere where even pets are welcome. With over 6,000 runners expected, the Turkey Trot fosters a strong sense of community spirit, encouraging participants to share in the joy of the holiday while promoting fitness and well-being.
The event features a variety of activities, including early packet pickup, a race day schedule, and an awards ceremony honoring exceptional runners. In addition, the Trot supports local charity ALIVE! through donations of non-perishable goods, enhancing its community impact. Highlighted by the presence of elite runners and the 2024 Grand Marshal, Susanna Sullivan, the Alexandria Turkey Trot embodies a celebration of local talent and commitment to excellence.
