About Alex Dunlop
Alex Dunlop is the personal brand of a New Zealand software engineer and writer based in Sydney. With ten years of experience shipping software, he focuses on AI coding, developer tools, agent workflows, and engineering productivity. Dunlop is a Senior Engineer at Popp AI, where he works on the conversation engine behind recruitment, and has previously worked in natural language generation at Arria NLG and co-founded Cub Digital.
His work combines practical guidance with lessons from building and shipping software. Through his writing, including field notes and a newsletter, he explains tools and workflows such as Claude Code, Cursor, and AI coding agents, with clear examples and evidence-led advice.
