AlgaeFood is a three-year German-Danish Interreg project bringing regional seaweed into everyday food culture across its programme region. Its five partners aim to help people of all ages discover marine algae as food and understand their value as a sustainable resource. The project combines practical cooking with education, running workshops and cooking events in Germany and Denmark for schoolchildren, apprentices, teachers and adults.

It also takes part in public events that introduce seaweed to wider audiences. AlgaeFood shares recipes and preparation guidance, as well as learning materials for schools and vocational colleges. Its resources explain native seaweed species, their nutritional and environmental benefits, and ways to use macroalgae sustainably.

These include brochures and reports about sea gardens: community-based approaches to cultivating algae in water, with guidance to inspire local projects. Through its events and educational resources, AlgaeFood seeks to make seaweed more familiar and enjoyable, and to encourage its greater use in regional cooking
