Founded in 2017, the Alice L. Walton Foundation is a philanthropic organization working to expand opportunity and improve quality of life for individuals and communities. Its priorities include increasing access to the arts, improving education, enhancing health, and advancing economic opportunity, with a focus on creating meaningful, lasting change for people most in need. The foundation supports this work through grants and partnerships; since its founding, it has worked with more than 225 partners and made over 400 grants.
The foundation is part of a wider group of nonprofit initiatives founded by Alice Walton. These include Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, which offers free admission to American art and nature experiences in Bentonville, Arkansas; Art Bridges Foundation, which partners with museums to bring American art into communities; Heartland Whole Health Institute, which works with partners to rethink health care delivery; and the Alice L. Walton School of Medicine, designed to combine medical education with arts, humanities, and whole-health principles.
