Aliette de Bodard is a Paris-based writer of fantasy and science fiction, with occasional forays into horror. Her award-winning work spans gothic fantasy, historical-inspired court intrigue and speculative space opera, often drawing on Vietnamese culture and settings. Her books include the Dominion of the Fallen trilogy, set in a magical, war-scarred Paris, and the Dragons and Blades series, featuring family rivalries, comedy and murder in a gothic Vietnamese court.
She also writes stories in The Universe of Xuya, a Vietnamese-inspired space-opera setting featuring sentient spaceships. Other novels include The Red Scholar’s Wake, a romance about lesbian space pirates, Navigational Entanglements and A Fire Born of Exile. Her shorter fiction includes the Nebula Award-winning novella The Tea Master and the Detective.
