ALIMA

ALIMA, The Alliance for International Medical Action, is a brand dedicated to providing healthcare services in some of the world's poorest countries. In particular, they focus on the Republic of Central Africa, a country facing significant security challenges and deteriorating humanitarian conditions. According to the World Bank, access to basic services is inadequate, and gender-based violence is widespread.

One of ALIMA's initiatives is the rehabilitation of the maternity center at the Castors Health Center in Bangui, the capital city. They have strengthened the capacity of the staff and support the functioning of the maternity unit. ALIMA aims to improve access to healthcare, including sexual and reproductive health, family planning, mental health, and psychosocial support, for the population in this complex context.

Gypsie Christelle Nambozouina, a 30-year-old clinical psychologist at the Castors maternity center, shares her experiences of working with women and children who have been physically and psychologically traumatized. She provides essential psychological support to patients facing various challenges, such as preparing pregnant women mentally before surgery, informing HIV-positive women about their condition, and addressing cases of gender-based violence. ALIMA's dedication to delivering quality care and support in the Central African Republic is vital in a country with high maternal and infant mortality rates and limited access to necessary services
