Alliance Sahel is an international cooperation platform launched in July 2017 by France, Germany, and the European Union, along with the World Bank, the African Development Bank, and the United Nations Development Programme. This alliance aims to stabilize and globally develop the Sahel region by funding and coordinating nearly 1000 projects in response to the current security, demographic, economic, and social challenges faced by the G5 Sahel countries. Alliance Sahel focuses on four founding principles: adapting and effectively addressing challenges, prioritizing action in six key sectors, ensuring mutual accountability, and strengthening engagement in the most vulnerable areas to address security issues.

The alliance's sectors of intervention include agriculture and food security, decentralization and basic services, education and youth employment, energy and climate, and governance. They strive to develop sustainable agriculture, improve access to basic services, create economic opportunities for the youth, increase access to reliable and renewable energy, and strengthen governance institutions. Through its various projects, Alliance Sahel and its members are committed to making a positive impact and bringing about substantial change in the Sahel region by 2022
