All Wheels Up

All Wheels Up is a qualified 501(c)(3) nonprofit working to make air travel safer, more accessible, and more dignified for people with disabilities, particularly wheelchair users and others who rely on mobility devices. Founded in 2011 by Michele Erwin after her family experienced the challenges of flying with her son Greyson, who has spinal muscular atrophy, the organization advances research into wheelchair use and securement in commercial aircraft.

Its work brings together crash testing, research, advocacy, education, and collaboration with airlines, aircraft manufacturers, regulators, Congress, and experts in aviation, engineering, and healthcare. All Wheels Up has funded and conducted wheelchair and securement-system testing to FAA 16G dynamic standards, and advocates for feasibility studies and implementation plans. Its resources include travel guidance, passenger-rights information, research, and an airline accessibility guide. The organization also offers CRO services and training, and hosts an annual Global Forum for Accessible Air Travel, where stakeholders address technology, policy, legislation, human factors, and training. Donations and sponsorships help support its mission to create wheelchair spaces on planes.
