Almost Boxing Legends

Almost Boxing Legends is an Australian boxing initiative that gives everyday people the opportunity to learn the sport, challenge themselves and experience competing in a ring. Its programs welcome participants of all genders, fitness levels and experience, including complete beginners, and also offer challenges tailored to players from other sports. Participants complete eight weeks of boxing training before being matched with an opponent of similar skill, experience and weight.

The challenge culminates in a Fight Night, where competitors box under amateur rules in a professional-style setting. Bouts consist of three two-minute rounds, with participants wearing 12-ounce gloves and head guards. The event experience includes walk-out music, lighting and smoke effects, ringside tables and general admission for supporters. Almost Boxing Legends presents the challenge as a way to build fitness, boxing skills and confidence while taking on a memorable personal test. Its Fight Nights also support Australian charities; previous beneficiaries include beyondblue and The Stance Australia. The initiative offers sign-ups, event tickets and information for prospective challengers and sponsors.
