The Art League of Germantown (ALOG) is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization that supports fine artists and fine crafters while encouraging appreciation of visual art in the Germantown, Maryland, community. Founded in 1983, the League grew from artist and teacher Lynne Oakes’s wish to connect local artists and create a place where creativity could flourish. Its membership welcomes professionals, emerging artists, hobbyists, and people who value visual expression.
ALOG offers opportunities for members to connect, share ideas and resources, seek feedback, and develop their creative practice. Members can participate in meetings and exhibitions, with opportunities to show and sell their work through events such as the Inspired! art show and sale. The organization also presents galleries featuring member and guest artists, shares a newsletter, and highlights featured artists. Its activities provide a supportive setting for artists at different stages of their journeys, helping reduce the isolation that can accompany creative work and encouraging learning and growth.
