DAV Sektion Prien

Founded in 1892, the German Alpine Club’s Prien am Chiemsee Section is a community of around 4,000 members based near the Chiemgau Alps. It welcomes people who enjoy the mountains, are interested in alpine sports, or want to support nature conservation. The section promotes responsible, low-impact access to the local mountain environment and works to care for its natural landscapes and trails.

Members and visitors can take part in a varied program of tours, courses, and events, including mountain walking, climbing, ski touring, mountain biking, and guided outings using public transport. The section supports children’s and youth climbing groups, other climbing groups, and activities for older members. Its facilities include the Priener Hütte and a climbing hall, with information about routes, courses, and hall bookings available through the organization. The section also shares practical guidance on mountain safety, avalanche conditions, weather, and environmentally considerate recreation. Through talks, club gatherings, volunteer opportunities, and trail maintenance, it brings together the local alpine community and encourages sustainable engagement with the mountains.
