The Österreichischer Alpenverein (Austrian Alpine Club) is a membership organisation dedicated to mountain sports, alpine culture and the protection of mountain environments. Based in Innsbruck, it supports members and local sections across Austria through information, services, facilities and opportunities to get involved. Membership includes insurance, and the club also provides guidance on alpine safety, weather, training and responsible outdoor recreation.

Its resources cover activities such as hiking, mountaineering, via ferrata, climbing, mountain biking and ski touring. The organisation helps visitors find and reserve mountain huts, learn about trail networks and access route information, maps and tour-planning tools. Through its Academy, it offers education and training, while its youth and family programmes encourage participation in outdoor activities. The club also promotes nature conservation, climate action, sustainable mobility and respectful behaviour in the mountains, and coordinates volunteer initiatives including trail and forest projects. Its museum, exhibitions, archive and publications preserve and share alpine history and knowledge.
