Independent Lodging Foundation

The Independent Lodging Foundation (ILF), formerly known as the ALP Fund, is a 501(c)(3) organization supporting current and aspiring professionals in the independent lodging industry. Rebranded in September 2025, the foundation advances its mission through education, advocacy, research, and professional development. Its main offerings are educational grants and scholarships that help lodging professionals build their knowledge and connect with industry organizations.

ILF’s Professional Development Conference Grants support eligible new, full-time bed-and-breakfast and inn owners attending lodging industry conferences. Awards reimburse one eligible registration fee, up to $500, and include grants honoring Scott Bushnell, Nancy Renner, and Michael D. Hanscom. Eligibility generally applies to applicants under contract to purchase a property or those who have owned one for 18 months or less; some awards give preference to applicants whose backgrounds or properties reflect the honoree’s interests. The foundation also offers the Mary White Educational Grant, which helps aspiring innkeepers join a regional or national lodging professional organization for an introductory year.
