Alpine Luddites is a Vermont-based maker of made-to-order custom backpacks and bikepacking bags. The company is run by one person, who works directly with customers on custom projects and designs, builds, and sells each item. Its range includes alpine and expedition backpacks, classic packs, ski packs, panniers, bike bags, and expedition luggage.
Customers can choose from pack and bike-bag options or discuss a fully custom design. The site also offers services to repair, rebuild, or recreate older packs, along with pack and bike-bag classes, accessories, and clothing. At the time of the website’s listing, 100-liter and 135-liter expedition duffels are available in stock.
Because products are built to order, orders enter a build queue; the stated wait is currently about 24 months, and the site notes that this is an estimate. Alpine Luddites invites customers to get in touch with questions and provides ordering guidance and product information to help them plan a project
