Alpine Astrovillage was a Swiss centre for astronomy and astrophotography, founded by Vaclav and Jitka Ourednik to help amateur astronomers and night-sky enthusiasts pursue their interests under excellent observing conditions. It welcomed beginners and experienced observers, offering courses in sky observation and astrophotography, as well as opportunities to explore celestial objects through telescopes and photograph them in colour. The centre also organised astrophotography trips, including journeys to Chile and Namibia, and supported private projects and educational activities.
Its facilities included observing domes and accommodation, enabling visitors to focus on astronomy without travelling to distant locations. Alpine Astrovillage shared photographs, videos, publications and information about its programmes, and was recognised as a member of the Science Guide of the Swiss Academy of Natural Sciences. After ten years of operation, the founders announced that the centre would cease its activities on 1 December 2019 as they returned to their original work in medical research and moved to California.
