The Association for Learning Technology (ALT) is an independent charity and the leading professional body for Learning Technology in the UK. We represent individual and organisational Members from all sectors including Further and Higher Education and industry. We provide recognition and accreditation for all with a professional interest in Learning Technology. Our Members Since we were established in 1993, our community has grown to over 3,500 Members as Learning Technology has become a fundamental part of learning, teaching and assessment. The pervasiveness of learning technology means that many working in education will be involved with it in some form, so therefore we embrace the diverse range of roles, titles and terminology in Learning Technology across sectors. We believe ‘you don’t have to be called ‘Learning Technologist’ to be one.

About Association for Learning Technology
Welcome to the Association for Learning Technology (ALT), the leading professional body for Learning Technology in the UK. Our organization supports a collaborative community for individuals and organizations from all sectors, including Further and Higher Education and industry. We provide professional recognition, development, and membership open to all with a professional interest in using digital technologies for learning, teaching, and assessment.
ALT's overall charitable objective is to advance education by increasing, exploring, and disseminating knowledge in the field of Learning Technology for the benefit of the general public. Our core activities focus on membership services and generating income as an independent charity. Since our establishment in 1993, our community has grown to over 3,500 members as Learning Technology has become a fundamental part of education.
We embrace the diverse range of roles and terminology in Learning Technology across sectors, believing that anyone involved in education can contribute to this field. Our strategy for 2020-2025 aims to increase access to Learning Technology expertise and professional development, strengthen professional recognition and representation, and provide pathways to accreditation. We measure our impact through an annual review by our Board of Trustees and publish an Impact Report.
ALT collaborates actively with a global network of partners to serve our membership effectively. We work with other professional bodies and sector organizations nationally and internationally to achieve our aims and make a strong impact. ALT is a Charitable Incorporated Organization (CIO) registered with the Charity Commission in the UK, representing members from all parts of the UK, including the devolved nations.
