Alternative Surf School is a surf school based at Vieux-Boucau-les-Bains in France’s Landes region, facing the Estacade beach. Founded in 2014 by local surfer Vincent Guelfi, the school has held the “Ecole Française de Surf” label since that year. Its professional, state-qualified instructors welcome children and adults of all abilities, from first-time surfers to those seeking advanced coaching.
Lessons are available privately, in small groups or in group classes, with courses tailored to different experience levels. Offerings include playful introductory sessions for children aged six to ten, beginner lessons, intermediate progression, and bespoke family or individual coaching. Video analysis is also available to help surfers refine their technique and performance.
The school organizes surf experiences for occasions such as birthdays, bachelor and bachelorette parties, and group events. Equipment, including boards and wetsuits, is provided for lessons. Visitors can also rent surf equipment.
