Altra Quota

Altra Quota is an alpine association and permanent research outpost based in Tressi, a hamlet of Ronco Canavese in Val Soana, within Gran Paradiso National Park. Founded by environmental engineers and other specialists, the collective combines scientific work with a commitment to mountain life and local communities. Its activities include environmental monitoring, research, prevention, education, cultural outreach, and sharing knowledge with people in the valley. The team measures climate conditions, maps slopes, and documents local waterways, forests, and environmental change. Research is intended to be accessible and shared through open data, field observations, and community-focused communication.

Altra Quota is developing a permanent base in a municipal building in Tressi, currently being restored. The space is planned as a workplace, field archive, and meeting place for the community. Its forthcoming Quaderno di Quota will bring together observations, data, local voices, and short essays. The association also welcomes scientific collaborations, research proposals, and educational initiatives, working with universities, public bodies, cultural groups, and local organisations to support informed, practical care for the mountain environment.
