Altruism, Inc. supports families through pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period via its Maternal and Infant Health (MaIH) Center. Operating in Lexington and Kansas City, Missouri, the center provides appointment-based care intended to help parents and babies get a healthy start.
Services include doula support, birth planning, prenatal exams with midwives, mental health care, nutrition support, and pregnancy and parenting education. Doulas offer emotional support, help clients prepare for labor and delivery, and assist them in communicating with healthcare providers. The center also offers classes and guidance on breastfeeding, stress management, and breathing exercises.
Beyond clinical and emotional care, Altruism helps address practical needs by providing support such as diapers, food, clothing, car seats, and assistance with utilities; an infant boutique is also available. Services are free for people who qualify, including those with Medicaid and people who are uninsured. Altruism also invites community donations and sells items through Shop for a Cause, with purchases supporting its doula and midwifery services
