About Lua Vermelha
Lua Vermelha is a project initiated by Dra. Marimilia Pita, with the support of healthcare professionals dedicated to raising awareness about Sickle Cell Disease. This project, also known as Red Moon, aims to shed light on this condition that affects red blood cells responsible for oxygen transport in the body.
Sickle Cell Disease is a genetic disorder altering hemoglobin, impacting blood oxygenation. Many individuals may unknowingly carry the Trait as symptoms may be subtle or absent, making specialized testing essential for diagnosis. Through informative resources, Lua Vermelha educates about the disease, its symptoms, and the difference between carrying the Trait and having the disease.
