Aly's Purpose

Aly’s Purpose is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity dedicated to honoring Alyson Rae VonHandorf by giving back to the community that made a difference in her life. The organization focuses on supporting people with special needs and encouraging the next generation of professionals who serve them. In partnership with Northern Kentucky University, Aly’s Purpose established the Alyson Rae VonHandorf Scholarship for undergraduate and graduate students pursuing studies in special education.

The scholarship recognizes Aly’s life and helps students who are passionate about serving the special-ne needs population. Aly was born with Sanfilippo Syndrome, a rare condition, and benefited from the commitment of people who worked to support individuals with disabilities. Aly’s Purpose also shares information about Sanfilippo Syndrome and the National MPS Society, which works to cure, support, and advocate for people affected by MPS and ML.

The charity invites community members to contribute, attend fundraising events, and contact the organization with questions or offers of help
