Alzheimer Aidants

Alzheimer Aidants is a federation of French nonprofit associations, founded in 2010, that supports family caregivers and older people living with neurodegenerative diseases or related conditions. Recognised as serving the public interest, it works to help people remain at home, maintain cognitive abilities and independence, and enjoy better social connection and quality of life. The federation also seeks to reduce caregiver strain through respite services, practical guidance, training, and support with administrative and legal matters.

Its local associations operate in Bouches-du-Rhône, Gironde, and Var. Services include therapeutic day-care centres, respite platforms, home support, individual meetings, caregiver support groups, training sessions, forums, and discussions with professionals. Some day-care services include transport from home, while respite support can range from one hour to 15 days. The Var association reports three day-care centres and two respite platforms; the Bouches-du-Rhône centre offers activities in a secure facility with gardens and terraces. Alzheimer Aidants also organises monthly “Café nommé mémoire” gatherings, open to the public, and shares events for families and professionals.
