The Leon Jarner Memorial Foundation is a Norwegian foundation supporting Alzheimer’s and dementia research, while also promoting better lives for people living with dementia and those close to them. Its mission is twofold: to help make everyday life with dementia as meaningful and harmonious as possible, and to support research that may lead to a cure. The foundation has funded research for 25 years, supported 24 research projects, and awards 250,000 kroner per year.
It says that donations go directly to researchers, with none allocated to administration, and accepts gifts through Vipps and bank transfer. Alongside its research support, the foundation shares stories and resources about dementia, including information on Alzheimer’s, living with dementia, and experiences from relatives, researchers, and people involved in the effort. Researchers can apply for support through the foundation.
