Amara, formerly Medecan, is a UK-wide, CQC-regulated medical cannabis clinic providing doctor-led care for people whose conditions have not improved enough with standard treatments. Its service is available across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, with online consultations and support from a patient care team. The clinic assesses people living with chronic pain, anxiety, depression, insomnia and women’s health conditions such as endometriosis, PMDD and perimenopause. Eligibility is considered in light of a person’s diagnosis and previous treatments; prescriptions are made only when specialists determine they are clinically appropriate.

Care begins with a free eligibility check or call, followed by medical-record review and a video consultation with a GMC-registered specialist. At least two specialist doctors review each case before a treatment plan and prescription are approved. Amara’s selected cannabis-based medicines include oils, capsules and sprays, dispensed by a GPhC-registered partner pharmacy and delivered securely. The clinic also offers follow-up reviews, repeat-prescription support and guidance on treatment.
