Amazonki

Poznańskie Towarzystwo Amazonki is a women’s support organisation focused on creating a space for support, education and hope for women affected by breast cancer. Founded on 1 October 1991, it grew from the initiative of Krystyna Wechmann, who sought to address the lack of information and the social taboo surrounding the disease. She has served as the organisation’s president since its establishment.

The association helps women connect with support and access information about living with breast cancer. Its activities include educational initiatives, publications such as leaflets and guides, and projects supported by public funding. It also promotes physical activity and community through trekking events and sports competitions known as spartakiads.

Members can find information about scheduled classes and a team of rehabilitation specialists and psychologists, as well as volunteer support and links to Amazon clubs across the Wielkopolska region. The organisation shares news and practical resources, and invites people to learn about its work or contribute support. Its message, “Women have power,” reflects its emphasis on solidarity, knowledge and resilience
