Ambulance2014

Ambulanse til Tadsjikistan 2014 is a Norwegian volunteer charity established to help improve access to emergency medical care in Tajikistan. Its central project was to raise funds to acquire a Norwegian ambulance and equip it with medical supplies, then transport it to Dushanbe for use by the local ambulance service. The initiative responded to a reported shortage of at least 700 ambulances in the country, where the donated vehicle was expected to serve communities with limited access to medical transport.

The organization worked with the UK charity GoHelp, which supported the ambulance’s import, handover to the receiving service, and operational funding. Volunteers carried out the project without pay, and contributions were directed to the ambulance and its equipment. Supporters could donate by bank transfer, SMS, or PayPal, including credit-card payments. The group also shared project updates through its website, email newsletter, Facebook, and Twitter. Its fundraising target included costs for the ambulance and medical equipment; any surplus was intended for Sworde-Teppa, a local initiative focused on helping people develop livelihoods and income through self-help projects.
