About Amfiu
AMFIU, the Association of Microfinance Institutions of Uganda, is an umbrella organization that brings together microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Uganda. Founded in 1996, AMFIU was established to address the need for MFIs to have a common voice, lobby for favorable policies, share information and experiences, and network with local and international actors. AMFIU currently has 155 members, including ordinary members (MFIs) and associate members (supporting institutions and individuals).
As a member-founded and member-owned institution, AMFIU plays a crucial role in promoting a professional, inclusive, and responsive microfinance industry in Uganda. They work closely with government, national, and international players within the microfinance sector. AMFIU offers various services, including research and advocacy, capacity building, client protection, information collection and dissemination, and performance monitoring.
They also focus on important areas such as microfinance and disability, HIV, and social performance management
