The Associação dos Amigos da Natureza de Cabeção is a local, nonprofit, nongovernmental association focused on the environment, natural and cultural heritage, sport, adventure, and leisure. Legally established on 29 June 1987, it works to defend the environment, conserve nature, protect heritage, and promote quality of life through outdoor recreation. The association also encourages cultural and sporting activities for its members and the wider community, collaborating with local authorities and other relevant organisations on initiatives of local and national interest.

Its programme brings people into close contact with the landscapes and wildlife of the Cabeção area. Activities include environmental walks, nature observation, butterfly and bird events, mushroom walks, youth volunteering, and astronomy experiences. For outdoor enthusiasts, it offers canoeing through the Gameiro Nautical Centre, canoeing lessons and workshops, river descents, and coastal paddling trips, alongside maintenance circuits and scenic routes. The association also shares information about events, photographs, and videos, helping residents and visitors discover opportunities to enjoy and care for the region’s natural and cultural assets.
